Forest Fire Season

I had never truly appreciated forest fires until I moved to Montana a decade ago. I now have a true respect for their power. Last summer was pretty much flame-free, but just a few days ago we had a fire flare up one or two stops over on I-90. When this one popped up, we thought it was just over Mt. Jumbo and coming our way. The pictures are views from our street. It was quite the neigborhood affair watching the plumes of smoke and glow of flames. It spread to the east (away from our house), but it was still something to watch.

Hope those fires stay well away from you! Don't have to worry about that kind of thing in damp Europe. I've been rubbish with my blog. Now that I'm back at school I'm not sure when it'll get done! I will try. I now have a web site for my class so have to update that at least each week - this is more stressful to me than teaching, shouldn't have agreed to do it! Allen's in major prep for his October marathon in Amsterdam. I'm looking forward to it as Mum is coming over and I get the whole weekend to explore the city without the kids. Not sure I'll be that bothered about watching the marathon! Marion went today so next week will be a test as I'll have to work fulltime, plus meetings and do all of the other normal things us mum's have to do. Jacob got bitten by a wild boar yesterday. Ended up at the hospital but he is fine. He's very pleased with his bandage. It bleed a lot and looked way worse than it actually was. After it was cleaned up it wasn't that big. Not broken, he was funny though as, through his sods, he busily counted his fingers to check they were all still there, bless him. Have fun at school. xx

Well, one thing is certain ... we'll bring marshmallows next time we come to visit! Just a little too close to you guys, but exciting nonetheless! Glad Brian did not decided to lend a hand in control efforts ... he did that once years ago. We're still "cooking" here in Kansas, but it is still only the high temperatures!! Miss you guys ...
