Sunday Hike

We went to another kid-friendly, early morning hike in the desert. This was just across the border in Utah (Page is about 8 miles from the border of Utah). It was called the Toadstools.

Once again, Jacob hiked the whole way (with some complaining, of course). Annie was carried in the back-pack, as Brian couldn't suffer her slow pace. (Her slow pace was made worse because she stopped every few steps to pick up a rock or any other thing that caught her attention.)
Just a note: my dad brought this to my attention. If you'd like to see a picture more closely, just click on it. It blows is up to full-screen-size.

Well they look like they love each other! Tried to do the video again , even did a shorter clip but it still didn't work.
Balloon thing was good, stayed in the Hilton downtown - very nice. Camping would have been good though! Bought some more sleeping bags today and a table so perhaps we'll go again soon.

Hi Carrie
Well it worked in the preview bit but then didn't when I published it - any ideas?!

I love the photo of Jake with his arm around Annie. Very cute (and such a good big brother).

Do you know how the 'toad stools' are formed?

Rachael -- try calling your clip "movie.mpeg" and start in a whole new post. I think you're close.

Annie - how are toadstools formed. (I presume you have the answer?) They look almost handmade?

very Cliff Claven of me, huh? I thought maybe it was in Brian's field guide. But when the top of the 'toad stools' fell it hit the loose soil underneath so hard to compact it. So it became much more solid than the soil around it and didn't erode.
