First Boat Trip on Lake Powell

We had a fantastic day out on Lake Powell. This was the first boat trip for Jacob/Annie, and they did a wonderful job. Having their friends Eve and Jason certainly helped ease any worries. Our friends from down the street, Christine & Steve, took us out on a boat ride through the canyons of Lake Powell and on to the beach near Warm Springs. What a day! Thanks Steve, the boat captain. You will notice the buzz haircut on Jacob, an improvement.

Hi Carrie
Any suggestions on where to stay in Moab? Also wondering if we should hire a car so we can all go in one to the Grand Canyon. Is there anywhere local to do that?

Hi Rachael --

There are several nice, simple hotels in the downtown area. Though I've not been in any of them in Moab, I think the Ramada Inn was the "main" hotel. But generally speaking Holiday Inn Express is nice as well. www.discovermoab.com/hotels.htm

Yes, there is a car rental places here at the airport. I'll run by tomorrow and see about availability and cost. What day did you book the helicopter trip?

Hi
We are booking the flight tonight. Were you interested in coming on the flight? I think Saturday would be good - what do you think?
Will try and give you a quick call
Rachael.

Hi Rachael,

We'll pass on the flight, thanks. And don't worry about us, there's lots to do while you're in the air.

The weather looks good all weekend, so that is not an issue. Saturday works. (FYI - there is a pumpkin festival in town on Saturday. If you'd like to see that, I'd bump the flight up or back a day. BUT the pumpkin festival HARDLY compares to the Grand Canyon, so do what is best with your schedule. It might work best given your driving days.) Anyway, it makes no difference which day it is.

We're excited to see you! Carrie

P.S. they are checking their inventory here at the car rental place for a larger car. If it works out better, we could stay at home that day while you to the Grand Canyon. But we'll plan to come with you, and figure it out when we know more.

Hi Carrie
We can always do the Grand Canyon Friday and pumpkins Saturday, which day was best for a bigger car?

Rachael,

There is a mini-van available, and I'll reserve it for Friday. ($47 for the day.) We can't pick it up until 8 am on Friday, so we'll be to the Grand Canyon about 11. So, book your helicopter trip for anytime comfortably after 11 am. Grand Canyon here we come!
